Here are more women who originally come from the community of San Juan Chamula, a group of Tzotzil Mayans. If a family does not choose to adhere to the Chamulan Catholic practices, they are forced to leave, and most head for San Cristobal. Now San Cristobal is ringed by shantytowns of displaced families from Chamula. This is my long-time friend Rut and her younger sister. Like most of those who left Chamula, they are converted Evangelists.
