This is Petrona, 13 years old. She works for a family in Zinacantan which hosts many visiting tourists. She cooks fresh tortillas over a wood stove served with avocado, cheese, chile, and bee pollen, and does various odd jobs around the house. She told me the family treats her well but the work is very tiring, and she misses her mother and family, being gone all day. Girls her age don't have many options available, as most families can't afford to keep their daughters in school, and many girls in the rural communities get married at this age.
